Hey There!
My name is Whitney Teal. I am a Chico native and have been in education for over a decade. As a homeschooling mom I am always looking for ways to enrich learning. My goal is for my children to build foundational skills in critical thinking,
perseverance, and self confidence that will serve them throughout their lifetime. At Teal's Discovery Nook: Mind Over Math I strive to bring those skills and more to each class.
All About Me
I’m a mom to two boys, Paxton and Revan, and motherhood has deeply influenced my approach to education. My teaching style blends Montessori, Waldorf, and Unschooling philosophies, with a strong focus on on independence, self-exploration, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking. This is the same approach I bring to Teal’s Discovery Nook: Mind Over Math.
Every experience in my life has shaped the teacher I am today. I knew I wanted to be a teacher as a child, explored other paths along the way, and ultimately found my way back to education. After earning my teaching credential from Chico State, I have taught in public schools, worked as a math tutor, partnered with homeschool charters, and homeschooled my own children.
